Tour Down Under by Nest Studio children
Nest Studio (my teacher's hat is on now) was approached last year by Norwood, Payneham and St Peter's Council to design a series of bright and bold banners to run down the centre of Norwood Parade for Tour Down Under. The children were so excited to be involved in such an exciting International Event and to do something large scale and local.
Each art class (from 3 years to 13 years old) was inspired to draw bicycles, wheels, helmets, unicycles, drink bottles, sunglasses and cyclists...anything 'bicycley' . The drawings were so cute and beautiful. Then we worked together to pull more graphic images from the drawings which we then hand cut and hand screen printed onto the three chosen coloured banners dark green, red and yellow (the Council's logo colours).
60 students were involved along the way- it was a huge and hugely rewarding job. Now the banners have been cut, sewn and ironed and are in full display down the centre of Norwood Parade for two weeks and ready for Mutual Community Stage 4 race riding off at 11am tomorrow morning.
Brring Brring!
